Sunset at Cape St Vincent

Known as “The End of the World”

The Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park (PNSACV) is widely recognised as one of the richest in biodiversity in Portugal and Europe.

In this region of the Algarve, the park covers the municipalities of Aljezur and Vila do Bispo.

In addition to the natural beauty, the area’s rich history and culture are also compelling reasons for visitors to explore.

The far south-west, where Cabo de São Vicente and Ponta de Sagres are obligatory stops, carries a captivating mysticism.

Cape St Vincent – “The End of the World” – A Beacon of Hope and Guidance for Sailors Throughout the Centuries.

Cape St Vincent has always played the role of a beacon of hope for navigators. Now, at its summit, stands the most powerful lighthouse in Europe, with a light range of around seventy kilometres.

The Romans called it “Promontorium Sacrum” – “Sacred Cape”.

Being here is a truly inspiring experience, a feeling of connection with the elements.

And every night, month by month, year by year, hundreds and hundreds of people come here to witness the sunset on the Threshold of the Earth…

Enjoy one of the best sunsets in Portugal on a night trip to Sagres.

We’ll head to the Cape St Vincent lighthouse, nicknamed ‘The End of the World’, and watch the sky change from blue to shades of yellow and orange.

Sunset at Cape St Vincent

Hike along the Algarve coast

About this hike

Discover our exclusive itinerary – a coastal walk that starts at Praia da Marinha and ends at Praia de Benagil. This route is part of the famous Seven Hanging Valleys hiking trails.

This route descends and ascends ravines that almost always end above sea level – the hanging valleys. In the distant past, each hanging valley was associated with the mouth of a stream, and its formation was due to a rapid retreat of the coastline not accompanied by the carving of the waterline.

Praia Da Marinha is one of Portugal’s most famous beaches. This natural paradise combines the wild beauty of a rocky coastline with stunning scenic views. It ranks among the top ten most beautiful beaches in Europe and will surely captivate you with its unique atmosphere.

Praia de Benagil Beach is associated with the mouth of a torrential stream that has carved a narrow ravine into the cliff.

If you wish, you can enhance your adventure with a boat trip, exploring the coastal caves, including a visit to the famous European cave – Benagil (this option is weather-dependent).

The boat trip allows you to admire the natural caves, secluded beaches, and one of the world’s top ten famous caves – Benagil, which can only be accessed by sea.

The entire route covers approximately 3 kilometers, and we are always ready to tailor it to your preferences.

#1 We set off for one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe – Praia da Marinha.

The action of fresh and salt water results in the formation of a lacy pattern on the coast, known as a karst landscape, with a remarkable diversity of geoforms that can be seen at Praia da Marinha: arches, caves, algares and leixões. We enjoyed the breathtaking views and took some beautiful photographs.

#2 The Benagil Beach.

This beach was once home to a fishing community dedicated to handicrafts; nowadays, the boats mainly visit the sea caves.

#3 Boat trip (optional)

If you prefer, you can add an exciting boat trip to your adventure, exploring the caves along the coast, including a visit to the famous Benagil Cave (this option is subject to weather conditions).

The boat trip will allow you to enjoy views of the caves, natural caverns and secluded beaches, including one of the ten most famous caves in the world – Benagil Beach, which can only be visited by sea.
